We first came across Grimes (Claire Boucher) earlier this year when she blew people away with her SXSW performances. Since then things seem to have sped up with the release of Darkbloom, her split EP with d'Eon and subsequent videos for "Vanessa" (self directed) and "Crystal Ball". Claire's now prepping the re-release of her Geidi Primes LP through No Pain In Pop, previously released in 2010 by Arbutus Records. The re-release is to be kicked off with a new video for "Beast Infection" which you can see below.

Previous Grimes track "Vanessa" attained CN status and featured on last months mixtape (actual mixtape, not zip file) and "Crystal Ball" has every chance of featuring at the end of this month.

Claire, Grimes, Boucher's new alum Visions is out January 31, we've already heard "Oblivion", now listen to a live version of "Nightmusic" recorded for Yourstru.ly.

Last week Grimes announced the title, Visions, the cover art, above, and the track listing and release date of her new LP. Now we can bring you, "Oblivion", the first track.

Another catch-up post here with the un-released Grimes track "REALiTi" which was supposedly scrapped from her as yet unreleased new album.

Fresh from winning people over at SXSW this year Canadian artist Grimes drops a brand new video today.

After gracing crowds in the UK this week, Grimes - aka Claire Boucher - shows of her new video for "Nightmusic".

After initially coming to light back in October, Grimes' "Oblivion" finally gets the visual works today - showing Ms Boucher hit the speedway, football (that's American) & even the fooling around in the boys locker room.

Given Grimes' meteoric rise over the past year or so this was bound to happen one day. And here we are, with Brooklyn's Total Slacker giving their own take on Visions break out track "Oblivion".

Is the Grimes train slowing down? Ha, absolutely not, and Claire's back with a new video for the now aged - but still very brilliant - "Genesis", from this year's Visions LP.

Recent 1FTP interviewee Grimes has released yet another new video for "Rasik".

Just after breaking the news that she is to release her forthcoming full length Visions via indie label 4AD, the delightful Claire Boucher lets loose another new track today with "Genesis".

Grimes - 'Visions' Most highly anticipated album of 2012? Well it's one of them for sure. Now, ahead of its release in the UK on March 12th, you can now hear the whole thing.

After being talked about for some time now, Canadian producer Blood Diamonds & buddy giddy Grimes have hooked up on a track entitled "Phone Sex", ahead of his "The Phone Sex" EP (out July 16th in the UK via 4AD).

This year we've cut down our "best of" lists and got straight to the point, we'll have two lists and an extra something(s) special up our sleeve.

Lists can get increasingly tedious this time of the year and every Tom, Dick and Harry are compiling their best albums, videos, tracks, artists, newcomers, the holy "Ones To Watch", what are we watching for exactly?

This first list is for NEWCOMERS, the criteria isn't "Oh we came across this band in 2011, they're good". It needs to be relevant so we made some pointers on how we judged below:

Admittedly, female solo artists aren't exactly our strong point, barring Kyla La Grange and Claire Grimes Boucher. So naturally it came as a surprise to me, when I found myself enjoying the husky vocals and mellowed out vibes of Chelsea Burgin.

I feel like we're always saying this but it's the nature of new music blogging I suppose, and yes it's a growing cliche too. Erin Fein's Psychic Twin has come on leaps and bounds since their 2011 debut (bandcamp) release "I Want To Forget", and latest track "Unlock Yr Heart" shows craft and invention in equal parts.

As we prepare for the impending festival season, May has proved to be jammed packed full of great new music. From exciting new acts such as Thumpers, Savages and YRRS, to returning big names like Beach House, Animal Collective and Best Coast.

Danish siren is back with new track, "Glass" off the back of previous track, "Pilgrim".

We present our CERTIFIED NEW April mixtape today. If your not familiar with the process, heres the deal:
