It's that time again, we're on the stroke of summer and there's a whole new batch of brilliant anticipated albums on the verge of release. We spend a lot of time rattling on about the quality of specific track releases and a lot of those bands and musicians don't even make it to the point of releasing an album. So in honour of all those with the ability, luck and determination to get there - these anticipated posts are for you. Yes, some of the releases are through major labels, offshoots, subsidiaries, blah blah blah lets be clear - these albums are here on our merit, nothing else.

We're back again for 2015, having missed a winter section due to time constraints in every day life. The section is due a little bit of a shake-up with regular art-work now coming from favourite collaboration artist, Samme Snow. Along with mentions for every album, we're compiling a playlist of our favourite tracks (that we've heard so far) from each album. Lots of big names not in this, including the likes of Sufjan so don't be surprised reading through.

We've been nominated for the Ticketmaster Blog Awards 2013 in the category 'Best Indie Alternative Blog UK'.

In a pretty surprising announcement, Ticketmaster has launched an inaugural blog awards that will look to "recognise the best blogs and digital publications across live entertainment from music to sport and theatre".

We aren't going to lie; it's been probably the most infuriating, frustrating and damn right drawn-out summer in recent years and we've struggled to keep the site afloat. Luckily, we're alive and kicking and rather than publish June, July and August Certified New Mixtapes; we decided to minimise our workload and compile the summer's best tracks into one, easy to stream, easy to download mixtape.

A little while ago we met up with Southampton trio Wild Smiles amidst their first UK tour. Clearly buoyed by the prospect of a forthcoming release and a lengthy tour (supporting The Rolling Stones at Hyde Park no less) we found them in fine form, performing new tack "Pulling Teeth" - which is not on the upcoming EP but will feature on the bands debut album later this year - as well as giving us a few words about how the band came to be.

Award season is coming to a close for another, well, almost. That's right, there's one more event for your calendar and that's this Sunday (24/02) for the second ever BBC 6 Music Blog Awards.

If you were like us then your childhood consisted of a two week (or one, in some cases) family holiday every time summer rolled around. Along with Christmas and birthdays, it was something that took high priority on the annual calendar.

Now, here we are, well into adulthood and yet the great British summer remains its unreliable, disappointing self. Sigh. So, our Two Week Sunshine compilation - similar to last years Summer Forever mix - is a selection of 14 gloriously sun soaked tracks from the past 12 months of new music.

Dear readers, we felt this was necessary for a couple of reasons, mainly due to the fact that on any given week we can post around 20 pieces of 'new' content, and you, well, you're a busy lot, undoubtedly. With that said it's only natural that some really great tracks are going to pass you by undetected. After all, not everyone skims through their Twitter, Facebook or RSS feed like some kind of maniac. No no, that's just us. Anyway, we're pretty sure everyone will know about the new Beach House, GIRLS or Grimes record is out, but the rest, well that's a different matter entirely.

As previously announced on Monday, we're hosting the 'Most Genre Defying Artist' award at the first BBC 6 Music blog awards (see the rest of the categories here). See the list of nominees below and how you decide on who wins.

We're pleased to announce that on Friday we will be hosting a category for the first ever BBC 6 Music Blog Awards.

We first came across Grimes (Claire Boucher) earlier this year when she blew people away with her SXSW performances. Since then things seem to have sped up with the release of Darkbloom, her split EP with d'Eon and subsequent videos for "Vanessa" (self directed) and "Crystal Ball". Claire's now prepping the re-release of her Geidi Primes LP through No Pain In Pop, previously released in 2010 by Arbutus Records. The re-release is to be kicked off with a new video for "Beast Infection" which you can see below.
