Swedish punks Holograms are the latest signees to the ever impressive Captured Tracks roster. Their riotous debut single - "ABC City" - will no doubt show you just why they're worth the attention.

Members of Wild Nothing, Beach Fossils and Holograms join to form side-project The Snow, unveil first track "Memory Loss".

The Snow features Wild Nothing's Jack Tatum, Beach Fossils' Dustin Payseur and Holograms' Andreas Lagerström and if you were to pitch the three of their individual bands' sounds together, you'd likely expect what we get on "Memory Loss".

Busy is not the word at the minute, but never too busy for a new Holograms track. "Flesh and Bone" is the first glimpse of what we're soon to hear on, Forever, the follow up to their self-titled debut.

"Meditations" is another track from what's almost definitely our most anticipated album of 2013; Holograms upcoming LP, Forever.

Sweden's post-punk Holograms, are back with a new video for "Luminous" from latest LP, Forever.

Holograms seem to have survived the torture of that dreaded second LP, and will no doubt come out the other side much stronger and wise for the release of Forever. "Luminous" picks up where the band left of, but then again don't they always do that?

After impressing us greatly with their raw, punk-synth aesthetic, Swedish four piece Holograms have announced details of their self titled debut, as well as giving away new track "Chasing My Mind".

Today, the ever impressive Captured Tracks label release the debut LP from young Swedish punks Holograms. And after a string of mightily impressive tracks throughout the first part of 2012, we can now stream the whole thing right here.

We've been excited about Swedish newbies Holograms for quite a while now. Ever since the dark days of February to be exact. So after showcasing a few tracks previously (and one which won't feature on next months debut LP), the four piece have unveiled album opener "Monolith".

Those Swedish punks with synths (it's a nice mix, isn't it?) - Holograms - are to release their debut single "ABC City" next month and now you can hear it's b-side, "Hidden Structures".

Irregardless of who you speak to, 2012 has been another great year (here is 2011's list, for comparisons sake). From the emergence of new favorites like DIIV, Savages & Splashh, to the returning Tame Impala, Foals & The xx to name but a few, its been scattered with diversity once again. Below, you can find our top 12 (in no particular order, six choices each and one for each month) tracks from 2012, each divergent, unique and evident of another memorable year that has passed us by. See you again in 365 days time.

Holograms offshoot IBV shows off new track "Left Here To Die I".

Olle Strandberg - or IBV / I've Become Vapour - fronts the Holograms affiliated project we first introduced around six months ago now, you may recall. Keeping with the nature of sporadic releases, we have another gem of a song in "Left Here To Die I".

As we prepare for the impending festival season, May has proved to be jammed packed full of great new music. From exciting new acts such as Thumpers, Savages and YRRS, to returning big names like Beach House, Animal Collective and Best Coast.

Leeds' EAGULLS drop "Tough Luck", announcing their self-titled debut album for release March 2014 on Partisan

Eagulls-Partisan-Tough-Luck

It's been a short while in the making, but Leeds' post-punk maestros Eagulls are finely set to release a debut LP and they're doing it next March through Partisan Records, but onto more immediate issues now and their latest track, "Tough Luck".

Even though the punk void has been somewhat filled by fellow Scandinavians Holograms, Iceage's return is one of the most anticipated of early 2013. You're Nothing is the title, which will be out on February 19 (buy link), and the first track goes by the name of "Coalition".

Back in 2012 we featured a few tracks from an Art Is Hard split 7" featuring work from Joanna Gruesome, Keel Her, Gum and Playlounge. To our delight, the label are putting out another 4-way split 7" under their now named Family Portrait volumes. The subject of our post though, is the introduction of newcomers Abattoir Blues who feature on the release, along with Bruising, Fruit Bomb and Living Hour.

Sweden's Holograms might be best known for their gutsy Nordic post-punk, but Olle Strandberg (who is the brother of drummer Anton) has his very own, ever so slightly different project known as I've Become Vapour, or IBV if you will.

August 17 - 19th / the Funkirk estate, Skipton, Yorkshire Dales

Last year Beacons was set to make its mark as one of the most exciting and unique festivals to take place in the North of England. However, with summer being its unpredictable self yet again, the event was sadly canceled due to flash flooding in the Yorkshire Dales.

But, as they say, if at first you don't succeed, dust your off and try again. At that's exactly what the Leeds based brains behind Beacons have done, and with it securing a bigger (and what will probably turn out to be better) version in 2012.

My god, putting together these mixtapes is getting harder by the month and I think it would be easy to say that the future of Certified New Mixtapes is looking fairly bleak. The world of free downloads is getting less and less fruitful as bands are discovering they can make a small amount of money from self-releasing on Bandcamp; something we're huge fans off too, of course.

Leeds and quite probably the UK's finest punk-slackers, EAGULLS, are back with "Nerve Endings" and the promise of a 2014 debut album is slowly but surely getting too much.

There are some tracks that have emerged this year that stick out (from a personal stand point) like a sore thumb. Splashh, Holograms and DIIV are a few, and, of course, Boston duo MVSCLES with their debut track "Sweet N Sour". Now, to dismiss any kind of 'one hit wonder' talk, they've shown off new track "Where You Are".
