Festival In Focus: Beacons 2012

August 17 - 19th / the Funkirk estate, Skipton, Yorkshire Dales

Last year Beacons was set to make its mark as one of the most exciting and unique festivals to take place in the North of England. However, with summer being its unpredictable self yet again, the event was sadly canceled due to flash flooding in the Yorkshire Dales.

But, as they say, if at first you don't succeed, dust your off and try again. At that's exactly what the Leeds based brains behind Beacons have done, and with it securing a bigger (and what will probably turn out to be better) version in 2012.

For a start there will be no repeat of last years wash out. Now moved to the higher grounds of the Funkirk estate of Skipton, the exciting line up offers you the intimacy that a more commercially orientated Reading & Leeds simply cannot match.

Spread over three days, you can find much talked about newcomers Splashh, Holograms & Savages will take their place alongside the veteran Roots Manuva and the homecoming (of sorts) Wild Beasts. 'Field Day of the North' seems to fit the forward thinking Beacons quite nicely.

Elsewhere on site there are various other attractions to entertain you over the weekend. A fancy dress party will kick things off on the Friday, and there is also a number of art installations, film screenings and numerous adventures held within the special 'Into The Woods' tent. Also, there is even an early morning Yoga class (as part the sites 'Healing Quater') to on offer to make you feel whole again. If you're feeling fresh enough, that is.

Check out the interactive flyer below, with a full schedule available here.

The last remaining tickets are available from the Beacons site.
