Bands seemed to wake from their winter hibernation in March with stalwarts Vampire Weekend dropping two of the best tracks this month and emerging talent such as Splashh and Surf Club coming back for a second bite of the cherry.

After many an early demo, Aussie via London boys Splashh are finally releasing an album this summer (entitled Comfort), and are showing off new track "Sun Kissed Bliss".

Irregardless of who you speak to, 2012 has been another great year (here is 2011's list, for comparisons sake). From the emergence of new favorites like DIIV, Savages & Splashh, to the returning Tame Impala, Foals & The xx to name but a few, its been scattered with diversity once again. Below, you can find our top 12 (in no particular order, six choices each and one for each month) tracks from 2012, each divergent, unique and evident of another memorable year that has passed us by. Splashh are on quite a roll right now, I'm sure you'd agree. Not content with releasing new single "Vacation" recently, they're now offering up it's b-side - "So Young" - as a free download.

Time after time, young Londoner's Splashh continue to impress, well, pretty much everyone. Their new single "Vacation" is more of the same infectious, 90's throwback style that has proved so successful thus far.
