Introducing: Girl Friend - Perfume

Introducing Manchester newcomers Girl Friend - a band sharing a lot without giving much away...

'Oh Manchester, so much to answer for', someone, somewhere, once sang. And Manchester is the city
that just keeps on giving, so when a band like Girl Friend pop up with debut single "Perfume", we really shouldn't be surprised.

This here is smart, eloquent pop indeed. With hints of Wild Beasts at their most luscious, and some other band called The Smiths (??), it's ever so subtly seducing, helped on with its black on black video aesthetic and Derek Jarman-esque fades. Of course, it's bound to divide opinion, but hey, that's nothing short of a necessity in our book.
