Been quietly confident that Oxford's Solid Gold Dragons - aka Sam Scott - would come out with something quite special. It's took him a while since his debut track "Serious Lover", however, but new one "Sun's Not Big" sees that prediction become fully justified. 

Taken from Blessing Force's second 'Stutters' compilation album, it's an unadulterated funk jam on the surface, with so much backbone within the mix I don't even know where to start. It all feels so effortlessly classical, and although the track has a silky smooth backdrop, the guitars are bullish and assertive, merging Sam's vintage Arthur Russel-like croon with the delightful new age swagger.
