Tracks: Patterns - Our Ego

Wetting appetites with "Our Ego", Manchester's Patterns finally lay plans for their Waking Lines debut LP.

Patterns are another one of those bands that we weren't 100% we'd ever hear again. After bursting onto our radar in 2011, the band got around to releasing "Blood" in July of 2012 and now they've finally got to releasing something lengthy and no doubt solid as hell in Waking Lines.

"Our Ego" is the first cut to be heard from Waking Lines and it manages to take the edginess and gloom of a shoegaze we know and love, blending it with the sunny radiance of dream-pop. The result is something more suitable for a commercial market and usually that would be my description for something flat and boring, but not in the case of "Our Ego". The track soars from the off and manages to keep soaring with the help of those oh-so-sweet Foals-like guitar riffs.

"Our Ego" will feature on the January 6 release of Waking Lines through Melodic Records and you can pre-order here.
