New Music: Young The Giant - My Body

I came across these fellas whilst checking out what The Futurehead's are up to at the minute, as it happens they are touring in the US and Young The Giant are supporting them. Prior to that they also supported Marina & The Diamonds. The band are currently gearing up for the release of their debut self titled LP on October 26th, it will initially only be available digitally but they are hoping for a physical release early 2011. The guys are from Newport Beach, CA and are releasing on Roadrunner Records

I'm not going to stray down the all too familiar (and easy) path of comparing them to the likes of Kings of Leon because to be quite frank, they're nothing like Kings of Leon. Yes their track 'My Boby' does have a sort of KOL attitude and style to it but none of their other tracks do. It's very easy to make an assumption from one song. Isn't it coincidental though that the band have actually opened for Kings of Leon.

Here is a nice quote from the bands bio on their official website:

"Young the Giant write the sort of soaring, melodic rock 'n' roll that’s bound for greatness. From the jolting percussion and anthemic chorus of "My Body" to the lovesick fervor of "Cough Syrup" to the uptempo, sun-stained pop of "I Got," the California five-piece's stunning debut features an arresting collection of songs that announce the presence of a vital new band" - youngthegiant.com

Here is their track 'My Body' and its also available for free at this link, looking forward to the new LP.
